This time i ordered a monochrome OLED display with a resoltion of 128×64. It works with an I2C interface and needs no background light because of the self illumination type.
Since some time, very cheap WLAN breakout boards with the SoC ESP8266 from China hits the market. Besides the possibility to extend your existing projects with WLAN (WiFi) access (eg. Arduino based ones) you can develop even simple Internet of Things applications without the need of an extra microcontroller.
With the BH1750FVI can be measured the illuminance in lux at a point. Areas of application are, for example, photography, automatic switching of lamps for lighting at night or dusk and much more.
The Tiny RTC breakout board with the DS1307 real time clock chip from Maxim Integrated Products allows time-and date-dependent circuits with the Arduino or other microprocessor environments. In order not to have to spend more information on the serial monitor, it is recommended to connect a display. The presented 1.8-inch TFT color display with SPI interface can help here. It has 128×160 pixels and needs in the minimum case, only 4 ports.
The GY-65 is a simple breakout board for Bosch BMP085 barometric pressure sensor with integrated temperature measurement. The values can be a simple used for weather forecast, more precise (GPS) navigation (level measurement, as well as vertical climb and descent).
With the TEA5767 chip from Philips, especially the mini breakout board presented here, you can build – together with an Arduino or similar microcontroller environments – a small, via the I ² C interface programmable, stereo FM radio. In a similar design you can find the module in many mobile phones.

The LCD display which was originally used in the Nokia 5110 has indeed found a long time ago the way to a breakout board, but it is still simple useful for various microcontroller boards, because it can be relatively easily controlled and programmed.
